Capital Valley recap September 4, 2013
Chris Guillen and Erik Bloomquist provided fans with a highlight when they connected against River City. The longest such play in Capital Valley this season, the connection resulted in 77 yards.
Christian Brothers's Mason Stahley recorded the longest rushing play in the league this season in his game against the Raiders last week. Stahley scampered for 72 yards on the play and finished with 83 on the day as his team topped River City.
Zach Ewertson made the biggest impact on defense this week as Christian Brothers defeated Steve DaPrato's team. The 6-foot-2 senior grabbed 2.0 sacks.
Guillen threw for 181 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 7-15 with 0 interceptions.
Tanner Dolby was the best running back in the league this week. In 5 carries, he ran for 102 yards as Oakmont defeated Foothill. Teammate Trenton Annis added to the ground attack by rushing for 51 yards.
Holmes was the best receiver in Capital Valley this week as the Vikings defeated the Mustangs. Holmes racked up 5 receptions for 167 yards. Namani Parker helped Oakmont's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 77 yards.
Jordan Naab was a passing and rushing force as Oakmont bested Foothill. He completed 10 passes for 275 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 12 yards.
Guillen put up the best numbers in passing as George Petrissans' team topped the Raiders. Guillen's favorite target this week was Bloomquist, who caught 2 passes for 117 yards.
Casa Roble moved up to 584 from 678 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Rams climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Rio Americano 35-10.
