The Alma Panthers pushed their score all the way to 62 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Frankenmuth 68-62. Alma was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Carson Knoll was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with seven rebounds and four steals for Frankenmuth. Knoll has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ethan Edwards, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Alma's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Frankenmuth, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Alma won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Central Montcalm will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 495th, while the Panthers are ranked 179th). As for Frankenmuth, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
