The Dunnellon Tigers extended their postseason success on Friday against The Villages Charter Buffalo. They snuck past the Buffalo with a 65-59 win. Winning may never get old, but Dunnellon sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Tatiana Matthews was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Dunnellon's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Princess Hardin, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.
The Villages Charter's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zion Mcrae, who scored 30 points. Another player making a difference was Evah Watterson, who scored 19 points.
Dunnellon's victory bumped their record up to 22-3. As for The Villages Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-12.
Dunnellon will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Eastside at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. One thing working in Dunnellon's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests. The Villages Charter's road trip will continue as they head out to face Lake Highland Prep at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. Lake Highland Prep has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,798 points over their last 25 contests.
