Sterling City is 1-0 against Eldorado since November of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Sterling City Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eldorado Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Sterling City is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
Last Friday, Sterling City sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 28-25 win over Iraan.
Sterling City can attribute much of their success to Ty Turner, who rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of River Kinsey, who rushed for 103 yards on only 11 carries.
Meanwhile, Eldorado pushed their score all the way to 34 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 41-34 to McCamey.
Sterling City's win was their fourth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 6-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 3-7 Water Valley and 4-7 Eldorado (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 38% over those games). As for Eldorado, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
Sterling City strolled past Eldorado when the teams last played back in November of 2022 by a score of 24-6. Does Sterling City have another victory up their sleeve, or will Eldorado turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
