Basketball Recap: Community School of Davidson Snags Fourth Win in Last Five Games

After losing to Mountain Island Charter the last time they met, Community School of Davidson decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Community School of Davidson Spartans walked away with an 81-70 win over the Mountain Island Charter Raptors on Friday.

Community School of Davidson had a senior duo take command as Austin Moran went 7 for 13 en route to 22 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds and Dermot Lowry went 7 of 13 on his way to 21 points and eight boards. Lowry's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Ethan Tomko was another key player, putting up seven points and nine rebounds.

Community School of Davidson was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Mountain Island Charter saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Christan Jones went 14 for 27 on his way to 36 points and four steals. That was a full 51.4% of Mountain Island Charter's points, marking the eighth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Dj Thomas, who earned 14 points and four steals.

Community School of Davidson has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.2 points per game. As for Mountain Island Charter, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-10.
