South is on a ten-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Heights a nine-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Wednesday. The South Titans will be playing at home against the Heights Falcons at 5:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, South put up the most runs they have all season last Thursday. They fell 19-15 to Dodge City. Even if the Titans couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Meanwhile, Heights made easy work of Southeast on Thursday and carried off a 26-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won seven matchups by 12 runs or more so far this season.
Jaime Jimenez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Jimenez was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Hayden Wettstein was incredible, firing off two home runs, three stolen bases, and eight RBI while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Ellie Wilkins was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.
Heights kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.8.
South's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Heights, their win bumped their record up to 7-13.
South suffered a grim 24-2 defeat to Heights when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Titans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
