Bidline Augusma was a standout: she got on base in five of her six plate appearances with six stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Michaela Jones, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with eight stolen bases and four runs.
Meanwhile, Lake Region won against Mulberry last Monday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Thunder put the hurt on Lake Wales with a sharp 8-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Thunder, who have now won 13 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Kailyn Reeder spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits.
On the hitting side, Kirsten Aldridge was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Margaret Jenkins, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Lake Region hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.
Lake Region is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Jones, their record is now 4-11.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Jones hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. However, it's not like Lake Region struggles in that department as they've averaged .328. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
