The Morris Warriors will square off against the Tinley Park Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Morris is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games.
Morris is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Plano a 10-0 shutout. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 19 matchups by six runs or more this season.
The result came thanks to Mylie Hughes's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Aubrey McConnell and Halie Olson did most of the damage at the plate: McConnell went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Olson went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Olson has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Tessa Shannon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Morris hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Tinley Park beat Marian Catholic 5-1 on Friday.
Aubry Haack spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits.
On the hitting side, Lilia Flores was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Cruz, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Morris' win bumped their record up to 28-6. As for Tinley Park, their victory bumped their record up to 12-15.
Tinley Park's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Morris has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game.
