TOP PERFORMERS* Dominic Williams, Abraham Lincoln (Denver): The senior scored 33 points Tuesday night to
lead the Lancers to a 78-72 win against Westminster. It was Lincoln's
third straight win and sixth in eight games.
* Derek Vandervelde,
Dakota Ridge: The 6-foot-5 senior is not only a standout receiver. He
scored 24 points on the hardwood Tuesday night, although it wasn't
enough in the Eagles' 60-52 loss to Columbine.
* Aaron Malvern,
Manitou Springs: The junior scored 22 points Tuesday night in the
Mustangs' 84-33 pasting of Ellicott. It was Malvern's highest output
since tallying 23 in the season opener.
* Carlee Lough, Fairview:
The senior scored 18 points as the Knights went to Legacy and upset the
Lightning girls 51-47 on Tuesday. Legacy, the 5A runner up last season,
entered the contest 5-1 with the lone loss to Highlands Ranch.
ON TAP* George Washington (Denver) at Highlands Ranch boys, Friday, 7 p.m.: Another city team
will take aim at the Falcons and hope for a better result. This one will
have extra zest in that Caton formerly coached the Patriots (7-2
through Tuesday).
* Pine Creek (Colorado Springs) at Regis Jesuit (Aurora) girls, Friday, 7
p.m.: This is part of the Regis Holiday Tournament, and will be a
measuring stick for Pine Creek. The Eagles entered Wednesday 8-1, but the
Colorado Springs Metro League squad will be attempting to prove itself
against a perennial contender from the Continental League, the state's
finest.
