After soaring to 59 points the game before, the Cherry Tigers were a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Mountain Iron-Buhl, falling 83-17. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Cherry has scored all season.
Mountain Iron-Buhl had a senior duo take command as Jordan Zubich scored 31 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds and Hali Savela dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Zubich has scored at least a third of Mountain Iron-Buhl's points. Gabby Lira was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
Cherry's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Mountain Iron-Buhl, they pushed their record up to 18-2 with that win, which was their 21st straight on the road dating back to last season.
Cherry will square off against the grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in North Woods' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests. As for Mountain Iron-Buhl, they will be playing at home against the Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Ely is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
