The Clarksburg Coyotes pushed their score all the way to 60 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Walter Johnson by a score of 63-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Monday (57), Clarksburg still had to take the loss.
Walter Johnson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Norah Youssef led the charge by scoring 22 points along with five assists. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Alexander, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
Clarksburg's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Walter Johnson, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clarksburg will square off against Damascus at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Damascus will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line. As for Walter Johnson, they will head out on the road to face off against Bethesda-Chevy Chase at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Bethesda-Chevy Chase presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Walter Johnson in Maryland (Bethesda-Chevy Chase is ranked 11th, while Walter Johnson is ranked 84th).
