The Moravia Blue Devils will square off against the Charles O. Dickerson Blue Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Moravia put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They beat Unatego by the very same score they won with last week: 56-12. With Moravia ahead 38-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Meanwhile, Charles O. Dickerson faced Greene in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Charles O. Dickerson claimed a resounding 48-0 win over Greene on the road. The victory was nothing new for Charles O. Dickerson as they're now sitting on four straight.
Chandler Wright was his usual excellent self, rushing for 186 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 carries. Wright is absolutely dominating the rushing touchdown category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dikota Hamilton, who rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
Moravia pushed their record up to 10-0 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-8 Oxford Academy/Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton and 1-7 Onondaga (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 39.7% over those games). As for Charles O. Dickerson, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
Everything came up roses for Moravia against Charles O. Dickerson in their previous matchup back in September as the squad secured a 56-29 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Moravia since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
