The Cheyenne Desert Shields's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 66-52 to Cimarron-Memorial. Cheyenne was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Cimarron-Memorial apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Cheyenne still got an impressive performance from Cordae Feazell, who scored 23 points.
Gerald Patterson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 33 points and 12 rebounds for Cimarron-Memorial. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Patterson has scored all season. Daniel Brown was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds.
Cheyenne's defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Cimarron-Memorial, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cheyenne won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Somerset Academy Losee at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th. One thing working in Somerset Academy Losee's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine matches. As for Cimarron-Memorial, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chaparral at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Chaparral focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Wednesday.
