The Sabetha Bluejays will head out on the road to face off against the Nemaha Central Thunder at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Sabetha comes in on three and Nemaha Central on 24.
Sabetha had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past Humboldt 49-18 on the road. Sabetha might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won eight matches by 21 points or more this season.
Meanwhile, Nemaha Central stacked a 11th blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They put the hurt on Osage City with a sharp 53-27 victory. The final score was a far cry from the score of their previous head-to-head, which saw the teams combine for seven points.
It was another big night for Carter Hajek, who rushed for 242 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 55 yards and a touchdown. Hajek is absolutely dominating the rushing touchdown category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the field this season. Cooper Kramer made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Sabetha's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Nemaha Central, their victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0.
Sabetha was taken down by Nemaha Central 28-0 when the teams last played back in October. Can Sabetha avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
