Cato-Meridian and Pulaski are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. Cato-Meridian will be playing at home against Pulaski at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Pulaski took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Cato-Meridian, who comes in off a win.
Cato-Meridian's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Hannibal 19-0. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Mady Weller and Paige Hesse were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Weller tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Hesse tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Weller went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Hesse went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mackenzie Mahoney, who went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases and four runs. Another player making a difference was Ashlynn Wallace, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Pulaski was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 8-3 to Port Byron.
Danicka Gilbert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Hayden Reynolds made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Lily McLaughlin was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one double.
Pulaski's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Cato-Meridian, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
Everything went Cato-Meridian's way against Pulaski in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, as Cato-Meridian made off with a 14-2 victory. Does Cato-Meridian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pulaski turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
