It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They secured a 63-59 W over Osmond/Randolph. Given Laurel-Concord-Coleridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Osmond/Randolph is ranked 224th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gibson Roberts continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 30 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kolby Hansen, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Osmond/Randolph lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brayden Shearer. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Shearer scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Xander Brown, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Osmond/Randolph, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge will be playing in front of their home fans against Wakefield at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Wakefield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday. As for Osmond/Randolph, Osmond/Randolph and Plainview will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
