Terra Nova was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in Peninsula - Bay. Earlier in the week, the Tigers defeated Salinas 21-3.
Terra Nova moved up to 274 from 303 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 21-3 win over the Cowboys helped Bill Gray's team improve its standing.
The Tigers' dynamic duo of K'ren Spain and Tanner Piccolotti proved tough for Salinas to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Spain threw for 126 yards and one touchdown and Piccolotti had 48 yards receiving. Jaylen Jones helped Terra Nova's passing attack out by catching eight balls for 35 yards.
Jack Del Santo made the biggest impact on defense this week as Sacred Heart Prep topped King's Academy. The 5-foot-8 senior grabbed one interception.
Ryan Gaertner was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 120 yards as the Gators bested the Cowboys. Kevin Donahoe also contributed to the rushing game with 57 yards on the ground.
Thanks to the talents of Spain and Piccolotti the Tigers have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Spain leads the league in passing with 705 yards, while Piccolotti has rushed for 430 yards this season. Menlo-Atherton's Evan Perkins leads the league in receiving yards with 270 on 13 catches.
Sacred Heart Prep extended the longest winning streak in Peninsula - Bay this week by beating the Knights, 42-0. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
