The Greeley Central Wildcats can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They slipped by Longmont 43-42. The win was just what Greeley Central needed coming off of a 79-16 defeat in their prior contest.
It was another big night for Madison Sepeda, who scored 24 points along with six steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mayra Flores, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Savannah Pohl, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylin Kroeger, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Longmont smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greeley Central only pulled down four offensive rebounds.
Greeley Central's win bumped their record up to 4-15. As for Longmont, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.
Greeley Central will head out on the road to challenge the Spartans at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Greeley West is on a three-game streak of home losses, the Wildcats an eight-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Longmont will take on the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Holy Family is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
