After only two points in their last contest, the Whale Branch Warriors made sure to put some points up on the board against the Royal Live Oaks Academy Royal Knights on Monday. Whale Branch claimed a resounding 69-30 win over Royal Live Oaks Academy on the road. Given Whale Branch's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Royal Live Oaks Academy is ranked 239th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Whale Branch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Greggory Gilbert, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kevin Jenkins, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Whale Branch pushed their record up to 15-9 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points per game. As for Royal Live Oaks Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whale Branch will take on Bridges Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Whale Branch focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Monday. As for Royal Live Oaks Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Allendale-Fairfax at 7:00 p.m. Allendale-Fairfax has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 0-3 during that stretch of close contests.
