Baseball Recap: Pine River-Backus Triumphs

While Pine River-Backus's win against Lake Park-Audubon wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Raiders 9-7. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Gage Parkin was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 4.1 innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

The victory got Pine River-Backus back to even at 3-3. As for Lake Park-Audubon, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Pine River-Backus wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 8-0 loss against Mille Lacs co-op [Isle/Onamia] on the 24th. As for Lake Park-Audubon, they have also already played their next game, a 12-1 defeat against Fertile-Beltrami on the 24th.
