Owyhee is a perfect 5-0 against Meridian since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Storm will square off against the Warriors at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Meridian's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Monday: Owyhee hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Storm never let Rocky Mountain get on the board and left with a 10-0 win last Thursday.
Hailey Bock was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Rylee Branch was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Owyhee hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in 17 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Meridian rose to the challenge on Friday. Everything went their way against the Kavemen as they made off with a 13-3 victory. The win was nothing new for the Warriors as they're now sitting on three straight.
Reagan Morris made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mariah Dresie, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Maggie Diffin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Owyhee's victory bumped their record up to 21-2. As for Meridian, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
Owyhee's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's matchup. The Storm have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Meridian, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Owyhee continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Owyhee's way against Meridian in their previous matchup back in April, as Owyhee made off with a 13-0 victory. Will the Storm repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
