After a string of eight wins, the Wilson Lakemen's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 55-31 walloping at the hands of Starpoint. While losing is never fun, Wilson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Starpoint is ranked eighth).
Several Lakemen players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rian Faery, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Bella Thrush was another key contributor, scoring five points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Wilson's defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-3. As for Starpoint, they pushed their record up to 8-0 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilson the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Royalton-Hartland at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Starpoint will take on Hamburg at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
