The Hancock Hawks will venture away from home to take on the Picayune Maroon Tide at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Hancock has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Saturday, Hancock had just enough and edged out West Harrison 6-4. The Hawks have beaten the Hurricanes the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Hurricanes has come to flipping the script.
Chace Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Roston Ragon was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jude Ulrich, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Picayune). They put the hurt on George County with a sharp 15-9 win on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Maroon Tide, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Cooper Moreaux, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Justin Stockstill was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.
Picayune lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Hancock's record now sits at 10-11. As for Picayune, their record is now 18-4.
Hancock might still be hurting after the 13-6 defeat they got from Picayune when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
