Madison is 10-0 against Marine City since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Madison Eagles will be home for the holidays to greet the Marine City Mariners at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Thursday, Madison took a serious blow against Lamphere, falling 58-19.
Meanwhile, Marine City was the victim of a tough 60-40 loss at the hands of Yale on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Marine City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 535th, while Yale is ranked 58th).
Despite their loss, Marine City saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jonathan Hand, who scored 16 points, was perhaps the best of all. That's the first time this season that Hand scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Adams, who scored four points along with 14 rebounds.
Madison's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-2. As for Marine City, their defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-4.
Everything came up roses for Madison against Marine City in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 79-43 victory. Does Madison have another victory up their sleeve, or will Marine City turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
