Football Recap: Austin Piles Up the Points Against Bowie

Austin was handed a heart-breaking three-point defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Bowie on Friday. The Panthers breezed past the Bears to the tune of 42-7. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Austin didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Roberto Flores and Andruw Andujo. Flores also rushed for 107 rushing yards, which is notable because Austin is undefeated when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 0-3 otherwise. Andujo got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Austin's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Bowie, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.

Coming up, Austin will face off against San Elizario at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 41.44 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Bowie, they will take on Ysleta at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bears will need to watch out since the Indians have now posted at least 31 points in their last eight matchups.
