The Stratford Spartans extended their postseason success on Friday against the George Ranch Longhorns. They took down the Longhorns 49-34. Winning may never get old, but Stratford sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
It was another big night for Aaron Deleon, who rushed for 89 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns. Deleon has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Derrick Mcgee was another key contributor, rushing for 152 yards and a touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why George Ranch lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaden Shelton. Despite the final result, he rushed for 193 yards and a touchdown while picking up 10.7 yards per carry. Shelton hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for 11 straight games. Another player making a difference was Hayden Drinkard, who rushed for 71 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.
Stratford's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for George Ranch, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 9-3.
Stratford will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Summer Creek at 2:00 p.m. on November 25th. Summer Creek knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Stratford likes a good challenge. George Ranch does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
