The Croatan Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Richlands Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Croatan will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Last Friday, Croatan narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past White Oak 30-28.
Croatan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Neely McMannen led the charge by scoring 11 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Landry Clifton, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, everything went Richlands' way against Dixon on Friday as Richlands made off with a 45-25 victory.
Richlands got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordyn Fisher out in front who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Mia Wells was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
Croatan now has a winning record of 10-9. Richlands' record now sits at 11-9.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Croatan have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Richlands struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Croatan came up short against Richlands in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 41-37. Can Croatan avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
