Basketball Recap: Mountain Range Drops Season-High Score on Brighton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mountain Range). Everything went their way against the Brighton Bulldogs on Tuesday as the Mountain Range Mustangs made off with an 81-59 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Mustangs who have now won four contests in a row.

Leading Mountain Range to victory were Preston Brunton and Moses West. Brunton went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc to rack up 40 points, while West dropped a double-double with 19 points and 16 boards. The match was West's 12th in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jeramiah Chavez, who posted seven points and ten assists.

Mountain Range smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Brighton's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Austin Sickler, who went 9 of 21 on his way to 24 points along with seven assists and six rebounds, and Micah Spotts, who went 5 for 7 en route to 14 points. What's more, Spotts also posted a 67% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2023. Isaac Vigil was another key player, putting up six points.

Mountain Range's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points over those games. As for Brighton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-7.

Mountain Range wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 75-73 defeat against Boulder on the 6th. As for Brighton, they have also already played their next contest, a 69-58 loss against Prairie View on the 6th.
