If the Escambia County Blue Devils were feeling good off their 56-24 takedown of the Satsuma Gators last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Escambia County fell to Jackson 48-44. If Escambia County hoped to take revenge for the 67-59 defeat against they when the teams met on Friday, then they were left disappointed.
Escambia County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Stephen Williams, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. Williams is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Lorenzo Arnold jr. was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds.
Jackson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keeyun Chapman led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Chapman continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Caster, who scored 12 points along with five assists.
Escambia County's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-7. As for Jackson, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 18-2.
Escambia County the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome T.R. Miller at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Jackson, they will head out on the road to take on Satsuma at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Satsuma has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 12.
