The Ola Mustangs will square off against the Harris County Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Ola unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Dutchtown by a score of 20-17. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ola in their matchups with Dutchtown: they've now lost three in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Nigel Newkirk, who rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries. Newkirk really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run. Caden Waye also helped out as he racked up 101 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, Harris County came tearing into Friday's match with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against McIntosh by a score of 14-6. Given Harris County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 84th, while McIntosh is ranked 210th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Harris County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mataye Youman, who rushed for 163 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Levi Watson, who threw for 86 yards and a touchdown on only eight passes.
Ola's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Harris County, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
