The Purcell Dragons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell 54-44 to Marlow. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Purcell of the 47-46 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Marlow got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Parker Boyles out in front who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. It was the first time this season that Boyles posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Holding, who scored 14 points.
Purcell now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Marlow, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Purcell will face off against Lexington at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Lexington is coming into the match with three straight losses at home, meaning Purcell will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for Marlow, they will head out on the road to face off against Washington at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Marlow focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Tuesday.
