The Jeannette Jayhawks will square off against the Monessen Greyhounds at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Jeannette's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Monessen has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.
Jeannette's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Ellis. The victory continues a trend for the Jayhawks in their matchups with Ellis: they've now won seven in a row.

Grace Stein was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abby Shaw, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Raylyn Gallik was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
Jeannette always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Monessen came up short against Serra Catholic on Tuesday, falling 18-3.
Monessen saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joey Hurst, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That run was Hurst's first of the season. Another was Grace Clingenpeel, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.
Jeannette now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Monessen, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
Monessen's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Jeannette has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Monessen, though, as they've been averaging only 2.8 strikeouts. Will Jeannette keep running through batters, or will the Greyhounds buck the trend?
Jeannette took their win against Monessen in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 15-3 score. Do the Jayhawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Greyhounds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
