Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Red Mesa

BASIS Flagstaff came into Saturday's game looking for another win against Red Mesa, but Jonah Herbert wouldn't allow it. The Red Mesa Redskins skirted past the BASIS Flagstaff Yetis 45-42 thanks in part to Herbert, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last three games he's played.

Another player making a difference was Darin John, who posted two points and ten boards. What's more, he also racked up two assists, the most he's had since back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, BASIS Flagstaff still got an impressive performance from Daniel Quiroz, who went 5 for 12 en route to 12 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. Alexei Barrow was another key player, putting up six points and seven boards.

The victory (which was Red Mesa's fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-9. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for BASIS Flagstaff, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5.

Red Mesa wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 57-49 defeat against Dishchii'bikoh on the 21st. As for BASIS Flagstaff, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-30 win against Shonto Prep on the 21st.
