Baseball Recap: La Lumiere Takes a Loss

After flying high against Westville on Tuesday, La Lumiere came back down to earth. The Lakers fell just short of the Michigan City Wolves by a score of 6-5 on Saturday.

Brady Monaghan put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Monaghan wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Josh Jaracz, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Jaracz is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

La Lumiere now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Michigan City, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. La Lumiere will welcome Non Varsity Opponent at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Michigan City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Valparaiso at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
