The New Fairfield Rebels are taking a road trip to square off against the Pomperaug Panthers at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. New Fairfield will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
New Fairfield had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Weston on Monday. The Rebels were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Trojans. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Rebels this season.

Jake Pardalis made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because New Fairfield is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Pardalis was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josiah Saladyga, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Law Roccamo, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Meanwhile, Pomperaug came up short against Newtown on Monday and fell 5-1. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Nighthawks recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
Pomperaug saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Schussler, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
New Fairfield's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Pomperaug, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Pomperaug's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. New Fairfield has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Pomperaug, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will New Fairfield keep running through batters, or will the Panthers buck the trend?
New Fairfield took their win against Pomperaug in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rebels since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
