The Theodore Bobcats entered their tilt with the Blount Leopards with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Theodore escaped with a win on Tuesday against Blount by the margin of a single free throw, 61-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Theodore got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Walter Cobb out in front who scored 11 points along with six rebounds. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jaden "JJ" Bush, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Blount saw an underclassman step up: Jaiden Beck scored 19 points along with seven assists. The matchup was Beck's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Charles Taldon, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Theodore has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season. As for Blount, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.
Theodore will be playing in front of their home fans against Saraland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Saraland is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Blount, they will head out on the road to face off against Murphy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Murphy and Blount are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
