After both having extra time off, the Dallas County Hornets and the Billingsley Bears will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 12:00 p.m. on December 29th. Dallas County comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Two weeks ago, Dallas County came up short against Linden and fell 44-36.
Meanwhile, the third road game was the charm for Billingsley, as they earned their first road win of the season. They came out on top against Maplesville by a score of 44-32 two weeks ago. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Billingsley has managed all season.
Billingsley found their leader in underclassman Alana Jones, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 19 rebounds. Jones is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Derrica Motley, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Dallas County bumped their record down to 0-9 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.4 points per game. As for Billingsley, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season.
Dallas County came up short against Billingsley in their previous meeting back in January of 2020, falling 44-40. Can Dallas County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
