Alleman is 1-9 against Geneseo since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Alleman will venture away from home to face off against Geneseo at 4:30 p.m. Alleman is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, Alleman was able to grind out a solid win over Peoria Notre Dame, taking the game 7-3.
Sydnee Ganahl was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off 11 hits. Ganahl was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Rhylee McMeekan was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Chloe Carothers, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Geneseo earned a 5-1 victory over Orion on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Maple Leafs in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won nine in a row.
Like Alleman, Geneseo also got a great game from a two-way player: Kendyl Wassenhove. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Wassenhove has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lillian Brown, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Madisyn Buysse was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.
Geneseo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The victory got Geneseo back to even at 4-4. As for Alleman, their record is now 3-4.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Alleman hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .385. However, it's not like Geneseo struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Alleman suffered a grim 22-2 defeat to Geneseo in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Alleman avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
