Highland dropped their record down to 9-11 on Monday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Hobart Brickies, falling 9-1. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Trojans couldn't push the score so high this time.
Highland got a good showing from Brian Baker, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Baker has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Highland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kirk Dapshis, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was Dapshis' first of the season.
As for Hobart, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-9. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11 runs.
On Hobart's side, Alex Martin was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Martin was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Alexander Mays was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Zach Terek, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Highland beat Hobart by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday.
