Baseball Recap: Montezuma-Cortez Beats Alamosa for Their Third Straight Win

Montezuma-Cortez waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Alamosa Mean Moose with a sharp 14-7 win. Considering the Panthers have won six matches by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Darren Daves and Samson Lein did most of the damage at the plate: Daves got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs and one double, while Lein went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four runs gave Daves a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Easton Pixler, who went 4-for-5 with two RBI and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Montezuma-Cortez kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alamosa only managed seven hits.

Montezuma-Cortez's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Alamosa, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Montezuma-Cortez beat the Mean Moose by a score of 14-2 later that day.
