The Whitinsville Christian Crusaders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. Their tough 67-43 loss to Nipmuc Regional might stick with them for a while. Whitinsville Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Nipmuc Regional apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Defeat or not, Whitinsville Christian got some senior leadership from Caleb Deters who scored 16 points and Cam Desmarais who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Desmarais has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Plantinga, who scored ten points.
Nipmuc Regional got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brayden Kelly out in front who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of James McKinney, who scored 16 points.
Whitinsville Christian's loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3. As for Nipmuc Regional, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whitinsville Christian will take on Hopedale at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopedale is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Nipmuc Regional, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sutton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Massachusetts (Sutton is ranked 90th, while Nipmuc Regional is ranked 94th).
