Shumaker has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in three consecutive pitching appearances. At the plate,  Shumaker  scored two  runs and  stole four bases while  getting on base  in four of his six plate appearances, while  Kang  scored three  runs and  stole seven bases while  getting on base  in four of his five plate appearances.

 Meanwhile, Grace Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight  defeat. They fell  5-1 to Grace Christian School.
 Like Timberlake Christian, Grace Christian also got a great game from a two-way player:  Ethan Wright. On the mound, he  struck out eight batters over  five innings while giving up just one earned run off   five  hits (and only one walk). Wright was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-2 with a  stolen base, a  double,  and  an  RBI.
 Wright wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Joe Riddle, who  went 2-for-3 with a  stolen base and a  double.
 Timberlake Christian's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Grace Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.
 Timberlake Christian might still be hurting after the  18-2 defeat they got from Grace Christian  in their previous matchup  back in March of 2023. Can Timberlake Christian avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
