The Arrupe Jesuit Generals will head out on the road to take on the Englewood Pirates at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Englewood took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Arrupe Jesuit, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Arrupe Jesuit beat the Bluedevils 51-46. The victory was just what Arrupe Jesuit needed coming off of a 64-37 loss in their prior game.
Karen Alvarez was her usual excellent self, scoring 30 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Alvarez is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Atany Peter, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Englewood unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 46-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jefferson.
Arrupe Jesuit's victory bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Englewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
Everything came up roses for Arrupe Jesuit against the Pirates in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 57-22 win. With Arrupe Jesuit ahead 35-13 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
