Basketball Recap: Washington Township Skates Past Tri-Township with Ease

Washington Township won the last time they faced Tri-Township and things went their way on Friday too. The Washington Township Senators blew past the Tri-Township Tigers, posting a 65-35 victory. The Senators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 21 points or more this season.

Leading Washington Township to victory were Kyle Banker and Rob McGowan. Banker went 7 for 14 en route to 17 points along with six boards and six steals, while McGowan dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Banker is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brogan Banker, who posted ten points in addition to six assists and five boards.

When it comes to explaining why Tri-Township lost, don't look at Dillon Stewart. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 51.4% of Tri-Township's points, marking the tenth time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. Chance Ringle also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assists of the season.

Washington Township's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34 points. As for Tri-Township, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington Township will host Kouts at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. Kouts will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Washington Township surely won't give up without a fight.
