Laurel is 2-7 against the Bulldogs since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Laurel Spartans will be staying on the road to face off against the Bowie Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. on February 5th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Laurel didn't have too much trouble with the Mustangs on the road as they won 38-24. 38 seems to be a good number for Laurel as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Meanwhile, Bowie entered their tilt with the Raiders with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Bowie enjoyed a cozy 38-21 victory over the Raiders on Thursday. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Bowie has scored all season.
Bowie found their leader in underclassman Sanaa Blunt, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Nylah Jennings, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Laurel's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Bowie, their victory bumped their record up to 15-2.
Laurel was taken down by the Bulldogs 53-19 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Bowie's Amira Kittles, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine steals. Now that Laurel knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
