Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Canisius Crusaders, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 21-20 to St. Francis. Canisius has not had much luck with St. Francis recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jack Eskridge, who gained 110 total yards and two touchdowns. Eskridge was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 61 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Kimble, who rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Francis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Johan Vasquez, who rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown. Jimmy Valentine and his 87 yards on the ground were also a key factor in St. Francis' victory.
Canisius now has a losing record at 5-6. As for St. Francis, they pushed their record up to 5-5 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Canisius does not have any more games scheduled as of now. St. Francis also has no future games currently scheduled.
