The Trion Bulldogs put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They really took it to Armuchee for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-7 win on the road. With Trion ahead 48-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Leading Trion to victory were Kade Smith and Toby Maddux. Smith threw for 159 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes, while Maddux rushed for 124 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Ethan Willingham did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 108 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Trion's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Gordon Central and 2-8 Chattooga (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 35.3% over those games). As for Armuchee, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
Trion will look to defend their home field on Friday against Darlington at 7:30 p.m. Darlington is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Armuchee, they will head out on the road to face off against Dade County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Dade County is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
