Cimarron extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping their season record down to 5-7 in the process. They came up short against the Logan Longhorns, falling 12-6. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Longhorns this season, with their most recent defeat being a 11-3 loss last Monday.
Andrew Gonzales was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and nine unearned) runs off nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Gonzales wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Orion Ledoux, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
As for Logan, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-6. Considering they have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Cimarron, Logan also got a great game from a two-way player: Aydin Kotara. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off 11 hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave Kotara a new career-high. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Logan: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 3-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Wallin, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024. Devin Kotara was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
While Cimarron had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
