Baseball Recap: Green Wins Going Away Against East

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fairview, Green was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the East Tartans with a sharp 19-1 victory. Considering the Bobcats have won five matches by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Quincy Merrill made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Merrill was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Blake Smith and Conner Blanton did most of the damage at the plate: Smith went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Blanton went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits Blanton has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah McMackin, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI and one run.

Green pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for East, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Green will head out to square off against Eastern at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East, they will venture away from home to take on Clay at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
