Gross Catholic and Mount Michael Benedictine are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Gross Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Gross Catholic will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Elkhorn, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Cougars walked away with an 8-5 win over the Antlers on Tuesday.

Griff Pechar and Maddux Villamonte did most of the damage at the plate: Pechar went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Villamonte went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Pechar a new career-high. Cael Biggs-Berger was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Gross Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Mount Michael Benedictine came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Tigers 14-7.
Ethan Siegmund looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Mount Michael Benedictine: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 8-9 otherwise.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jackson Teetor, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Eric Ortmeier also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
The victory got Mount Michael Benedictine back to even at 10-10. As for Gross Catholic, their record now sits at 12-6.
